Pain is good?

Ah.... so the brace wires are in...and it kinda hurt yesterday and all....

so yesterday I announce, just thiking aoud kinda thing, "Pain grounds you....I mean I feel now I couldn't lose my head, can't fly or whatever, the pain'll keep me on the ground"

Both parents give me proudish looks like I've realised some deep adult thing

"What...?"

"Now you get it?" Dad says.."not just pain. hardship, difficulties, all ground you....that's why we need some difficulties in life."

Hmm....

Pain gives us a reality check! Sorrow helps us learn and gives us an opportunity to think.

Braces, ugh, I had them too and hated them big time. I had them longer than most people because I hate dentists so I'd flatly refuse to go. Ultimately the folks would have to drag me to the clinic. I had them for like 2 and a half years or something. Brushing with them is a pain.

And pain, well, that's part of life. What's life without pain? If you don't face pain and failures in life, it'll get too monotonous and you won't feel exceptionally happy when you're happy because you'll always be happy. Uh, did that make sense? :-s

2 futomaki: urgh.

2 anandita: yeah, see now THAT'S what I meant.

2 jan: when did YOU get braces huh??it doesn't hurt much now, y'know?

2 aiman: get braces. you'll find out.

2 rushi: well, you've gone down that road a few times too...and hey hey i was always a bit on the road....

2 snitch: yeah, brushing with it is a royal headache....and it made sense.

My sympathies are with you. Sigh.

I've been lucky in the dental department. Either due to lack of time to go visit one, or just nice genes, I haven't had braces, or cavities or anything too bad.

I don't think pain is good though. I mean, it can help you realise what other people are going through, etc. But frankly, why shouldn't one fly? Why do we have to sit here mooch around and fester?

No-one likes pain. Pain is difficult, pain makes us realize that not everything is comfortable.

What you said is so true, but not always. If you are hurt by some1s words, a good nice abusive session does give loadsa comfort :-P Also, biologically, pain means that body is trying 2 make u realize that something is wrong...

But looking beyond all that,
I was told by some1, "pain = life", if it doesn't pain, means you are not living. So relevant :-)

Thanks for your lovely comment on my blog,
replied 2 u thr :-)

Exactly. I'd rather fly.
That's why, although I need braces, I always strongly opposed the idea of my getting them.

Pain may be good, but not when I'm the one experiencing it.

2 jan: when? when? do not remember at all.

2 unforgiven: most do. I chose to wait awhile. not too good a choice.

2 espera: never said i liked pain did i?
want to fly, yes i do.

2 express: pain....brings us down to reality, but i ain't so sure i want to be there.....

2 yottabyte: LOL so true....but yeah, you haven't seen my teeth, my reasons for getting braces are both cosmetic and dental-hygiene related. there are places between my teeth that my brush can never touch, that's why i need them to be aligned. at least i won't have to be at the dentists again after this stint....

2 shrav: braces. for a year and a half. not permanent, purlease...
