Yeah, this is new.

Being house captain. Finally. Very new to me.
True, I am lucky, very. True, it's a very coveted post.....
The full implication of it hasn't hit me properly yet....
Yeah, it does mean bunking like crazy to get people to enlist for various teams.....
It means taking responsibility....For the performance of your house....
Welcome to Yellow House.
We've been coming fourth (We have four houses, Red, blue, green, yellow) for.......well, as many years as I've been in school.
And now, this girl who does no other sport than her athletics must get the demoralised demotivated students to actually work for it.
At the same time keeping her studies up.
Mission not-so-impossible. This one lasts a full year. Ooh babe we gonna have fun.

Meanwhile, we have a new principal. We had morning assembly today, and our Vice principal asked us to welcome him in "true ISM tradition", ie applause. Not really a tradition, no.
True ISM tradition was after a speech lasting 20 minutes, most of which we did not listen to, we applauded in the hope that he'd stop. Yep, THAT'S our tradition.
The only line of his speech which actually stuck in our heads: "I will be briefing you like this every assembly"
God Forbid.

It's funny. Most of the schools I know always seem to have their yellow house in last or 3rd place. :/ Go figure.

Have fun with your new title. ^_^

Ah, been there, done that. :D I wasn't a house captain but I had to act like one in one of my years because our captain was way too busy with his studies. And it was fun. I've been the Secretary of the school once too and the bunks and all are fun. But it's sad when studies tend to suffer because of all the work that piles up and having un-enthusiastic people in your house is a major problem. First you convince them, then they chicken out and everyone blames you. But good luck, I'm sure Yellow will win this time around!

And speeches, tell me about that. Our school's Father gives the same speech on every function. We almost remember it by heart now. We could do an exam on that even. Guess we'll get to hear a new speech only when a new Father joins. :-j

congrats... We ppl don't even have houses :(
And long speeches are even worse when accompanied by bad english, like in the case of our vice-p who i don't think understands what he himself says

To elaborate further on Arwen's comment, our VP speaks things like,

"In the beginning, me and -name of the Principal- had very few kids. Now we have thousands."

And funnily enough, when the audience laughs at him, he thinks they love his wit.

Congratulations however.

i was the green house capt in 11th .... oh we had so much fun .. so called motivating the kids .. all the while bunking classes ... for some cultural event or the other ....

but our yellow house was in first place .. always ..

and whats this weird thing with school's anyway, even we had this applause thing going ... which we famously called the "apj clap" ... we used to do it,
it was crap ... nto stopping until our principal made that face of hers ...

It's not true that 'everyone' has body issues. I don't. I absolutely love the way I look and get complimented all the time. it seems like you're generalising a lot.
